'Boundaries' | Exhibition Opening 4th July 2019

Boundary ///////

noun

a line which marks the limits of an area; a dividing line.

Artist Statement

Tell me about your boundaries?

In this project the human figure, an individual’s personal boundary in society, is over-layed by maps; fictitious emotional maps created to represent dividing lines, connection, terrain and way-finding.

Protection verses containment.

Process

Working with mixed media; etching, image transfer, collage and hand drawing, opens lots of possibilities when making work on paper.

Some of the figures in these pictures are hand drawn in ink, while most are etched.  There are a couple of ways to etch, but the images here are printed by using a copper plate which is inked and pressed through a heavy printing press.

The etching element was done first and then the maps that I created were transferred over the ink; small details were added at the end of the process by hand.
